The aptly named Weekenders visited a glorious Spring Lane Field last Sunday (and I assume) promptly lost the toss. I arrived to find a GCC scoreboard reading 200 odd for 2. The scorebook was present and I thoughtfully took a picture to give a more informative tone to this err.. report.
A John Anderson century alongside a Baggers cameo clearly got Grantchester off to a rolicking start. Wiiliam Wray didn’t miss out and while Cap’n Dan charitably gave away his wicket, he had scored 60 odd at the time. This brought Ferg to the wicket and I managed to finally get a GCC batting picture as he smashed the last ball for 4 and GCC to an imposing 275, Tea…
…and a bit a mid-innings care and attention for the pitch from the ever conscientious Wiz.
Of course, after tea the clean-up crew swung into action.
Meanwhile Benji was also busy.
In the field GCC’s bowlers gradually took control…
…aided by a fair amount of swooping in the field
